There is an estimate of 20,000-25,000 Polar Bears in the world. The reason been is that the Polar Bear is a slow breeder. Most females reach breeding age at four or five years, and usually do not breed more than once every two or three years. Furthermore the female only produces 2 or 3 cubs each time it mates. Breeding occurs from March to June, when one male may mate with several females.
